Dr Heather Lambert (she/her) has recently retired after over 40 years working for the NHS in paediatrics and paediatric nephrology, having trained and worked in many places including Bristol, Kampala, London, Toronto and Newcastle upon Tyne. She is still involved in a number of development projects including NIDUS, a novel infant dialysis device and exovent a negative pressure breathing device for worldwide use including low resource countries.

As a doctor, she thinks it is increasingly important to speak up about the “hidden” issues which dramatically affect mental and physical health, and disproportionately affect those already disadvantaged – the effects of the climate emergency including air pollution and weather extremes, together with the rise in obesity. She considers being on a bike as her “happy place” and sees the need for urgent creation of a functioning infrastructure which places real importance on cycling as part of active transport, in addressing urban pollution, improving health and in encouraging people to be more aware and in touch with their environment and community.
