WatchClean Air Day is focusing on amplifying voices across the health sector to highlight the serious health impacts of air pollution and call for urgent action to clean up our air. We're calling for health care workers to cycle to work on this day and advocate for clean air to their institution. And support patient groups, and members of the clean air movement to meet outside hospitals across UK cities and walk to their local decision maker’s office (e.g. MP, council office) to deliver a letter with a set of policy asks for government on clean air.
We invite RFTL supporters to join with us and RCPCH in a synchronised ride to work on clean air morning and shout about it.
The RCP will launch its 2025 report "A breath of fresh air: responding to the health challenges of modern air pollution" on Clean Air Day with a foreword by Professor Sir Chris Whitty, CMO for England. Some of the RFTL team have contributed as authors. We will symbolically carry this report in our blue bag on our cycle, meeting with Professor Sir Stephen Holgate, RCP special adviser on air quality and report lead author, at Parliament Square.
The Health Sector Letter
We have a joint letter signed by professionals across the health sector, asking the government for more action on air pollution. The letter is available here: The case for health sector action for clean air. Please sign the letter and forward to your organisation to sign.
