Manchester #askaboutasthma community cycle

12.09.25

On Friday 12th September 2025 cyclists from Manchester’s health and social care system will ride together as part of #askaboutasthma week.

The cycle aims to build hope, celebrate success, spark constructive conversations and draw attention to the issues most affecting the health of children and young people across Manchester – namely, air pollution, rising levels of obesity, poverty and childhood asthma.

The ride will be a hub and spoke model starting in areas of the city with some of the highest rates of childhood asthma: North Manchester General Hospital in the north of the city, and Wythenshawe Hospital in the south of the city. The rides will culminate in Whitworth Park (outside Manchester Royal Infirmary and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital) at 4pm.

Cyclists will carry with them the Ride For Their Lives blue bag containing pledges from the community to take action on climate change and a letter from health professionals. We hope to present these to local politicians at the finish event.
