Ride to the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva
26.05.24

In celebration of the World Health Assembly in Geneva (27 May -1 June) Heather and Chinthika, "Rode London" to warm up and after a brief rest on the Eurostar are cycling from Paris to Geneva carrying messages from London to the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva.
The 77th annual World Health Assembly in Geneva gathers leaders and policy makers from member states. This year a Resolution on Climate Change is to be discussed making the Health Argument for Action on Climate Change. Heather and Chinthika are carrying messages to delegates to defend the health of Londoners with action.
- Climate action and improving air quality are a health issue, not just the right thing to do, it connects to people's lives and is popular as shown by Mayor Khan’s election for a 3rd term followed him standing up for ULEZ expansion to protect the health of Londoners.
- The election also showed the importance of following the evidence, and standing up to misinformation, whether that is about pandemics, vaccines, or climate change.
- London is a leader, but is not the only one - through the C40, other major cities are working together to show that carbon emissions can be cut, air quality can be improved - and elections can be won.
- Health workers are the most trusted profession in the world, and some of the most effective champions and allies of political leaders who want to do the right thing.
- That is why London is sending this message, via Paris as another great city and the home of the global climate agreement - cycled by paediatricians who are standing up for the health and future of their patients, to the home of global health in Geneva.
