Cycle

Now for the big day itself!

We suggest three types of ride (or you can invent your own)...

COLLABORATION

We are encouraging groups of healthcare providers – you – to organise rides between healthcare settings. On these rides discuss the state of climate action in your organization, good and bad. From experience, we know these events result in ongoing collaborations and action. They also make you feel less alone, a common misconception of climate campaigners.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Lend your support to local policymakers who are making a difference. Organise a ride to support initiatives that improve air quality by reducing traffic or the use of wood-burning stoves in urban areas. Choose an initiative that is relevant to where you live but needs support from the health voice. For example, we have planned a 3-day ride in London in May 2023 to support the Ultra Low Emission Zone expansion, and one has already taken place in Newcastle.

REPORTS and CONFERENCES

Have you produced a report or are planning a conference with a sustainability theme or section? Is your work aimed at mitigating air pollution and the climate and nature crisis? You can organise a promotional ride to increase engagement and adoption. For example, we are in talks with the Lancet Countdown on Climate Change and Health team to use this year’s campaign to support their 2023 launch.
